In their 20-13 Week 11 win over the Miami Dolphins, the Denver Broncos finally got their offense going, which helped the defense. It was easily the Broncos’ best performance of the season as a full team, but they still had some issues.
Hopefully Denver can still figure out how to minimize those issues and keep moving forward for the rest of the season like they did in this game.
On an individual level, almost everyone played at a good level which led to some firsts for these classes, but more on that later. Let’s get into the ratings, but don’t forget to check out the video above for Week 11’s Top Rated MVP and Bronco.
The positive
Justin Simmons | S: 89.8
Interception to seal the game was just a fantastic Simmons game. He started the season difficult but has since rebounded and in a big way. While after the first four games he made it seem like last year was a fluke, Simmons telegraphs to the front office that he deserved to get a competitive multi-year extension, but also showing that his role in defense really matters.
Bradley Chubb | OLB: 88.7
Until that game, Chubb had been a big disappointment with a third of his season’s pressure against the New York Jets in week four. Games. However, Chubb was in good shape again, pulling in 11 presses and being a force against the run.
Nick Vannett | TEA: 84.5
The Broncos had high hopes for Vannett when they brought him in to be their tight blocking end. So far it has been nothing short of a disappointment. However, Vannett has finally shown why he is so loved as a blocker and also what he can offer as a receiver.
Phillip Lindsay | RB: 84.3
It was good to see Lindsay finally look healthy after not looking like the same player in the previous weeks, although the O-line had done her a disservice during that time. In week 11 his burst seemed to be back to 100% and it was difficult to slow down for the Dolphins’ defense.

The negative
AJ Bouye | CB: 42.2
It was Bouye’s fifth game of the season and he struggled, especially at the start. He only allowed three catches on five targets, but one went for a touchdown. There were other times when his cover was loose but was missed by the Dolphin’s quarterback.
Melvin Gordon | RB: 54.6
For the very first time, negative points on offense still had a positive impact on the game, but turned out to be the lowest ranked players on this side of the ball. Gordon’s late fumble really lowered his rating. He ran hard in that game and had some good yards, but it all comes down to that potentially revolutionary fumble in the fourth quarter.
Bryce Callahan | CB: 57.9
It was one of Callahan’s worst games this season, and it has a lot to do with his defense against the run. His size issues appeared there, which is no surprise at all. On cover, he allowed just three catches on eight targets which continues his trend of excellent cover play.
Drew Lock | QB: 70.4
Examine the note before you hate Lock. The QB played a solid game and barely finished with the second-worst offensive rating for players who played qualifying snaps. It was by no means a perfect performance, with an interception, sloppy footwork and panic in the pocket at times when no pressure was there.
However, it was a game you can hang your hat on with his performance and can help the Broncos win games if Lock can do it consistently. Lock hasn’t been consistent, but it’s essential going forward.
Other Notable Notes
For the very first time, the “other” category only contains players who have played among the positives. Below are the two players on offense and defense who were the next highest rated players outside of positive ratings and MVP.
DeShawn Williams | NT: 84.9
The big boy has earned a role on the defensive line in the future. He still has consistency issues to keep him from being a starter, when everyone is healthy, but he has shown valuable depth and continues to improve every week.
Garett Bolles | LT: 83.8
Bolles has been the offensive MVP this season and it’s not really close. The player we’ve seen flashes in his first three seasons is finally showing the consistency needed to stay as a left tackle. Denver would be wrong if I didn’t keep Bolles in town.
Malik Reed | OLB: 82.4
It was Reed’s best and most complete game. It was the best he has looked at as a defender of the run and not just dodging blocks to make a play. He also had his six presses of the season, 1.5 of which were sacks, and they were all of very good quality.
Reed’s previous four bags weren’t of the best quality as he was either unlocked or considered a cover bag, but that wasn’t the case in this game.
Tim Patrick | WR: 81.7
If you just look at what he did as a receiver, Patrick would have been the MVP for this game. However, all aspects are factored in and Patrick as a run blocker was not so good. He was not up to his standard on the outside which hurt some races on the outside.
