Here are six important things before the Dutch MotoGP race, taken from the official MotoGP website:

1. Marc Marquez has won pole position for the first time in MotoGP GP at GP Assen. It's the 75th pole position of his career in Grand Prix and the 47th special in the MotoGP category.

2. But in the last seven seasons, there are only two riders who can win by taking pole position on MotoGP Assen (Casey Stoner in 2012 and Valentino Rossi in 2015).

3. Valentino Rossi is the most successful driver in Assen. The Doctor has won a total of 10 champions in all categories with 125cc, once in 250cc and eight times in MotoGP.

4. Yamaha is no longer able to win since Valentino Rossi won at Assen last year. Note 17 winless series was the longest record since 2003 as the fasting title for the 18 series (16 series in 2002 season and 2 series in season 2003).

5. Andrea Dovizioso will start from fourth place. Dovizioso is determined to be the second Ducati rider to win the Dutch MotoGP race after Casey Stoner (2008).

6. Jorge Lorenzo should start the race from the 10th starting position. This is very detrimental to Lorenzo who was in his best condition after winning two successive series in Italy and Barcelona.
