West Java MUI: Meeting 212 activities are aligned with the policy

BANDUNG, KOMPAS.com – The Council of Indonesian Ulema of West Java (MUI) considers that the activity of the 212 meeting has lost its essence. In fact, the activity has deviated in the direction of politics.

"According to the results of our observations, the 212 activities of the meeting are no longer purely religious.The activities have deviated in the direction of the policy," said Wednesday the president of MUI Java Rachmat Syafei, Jalan LLRE Martadinata , Bandung, Wednesday (11/28/2018). )

Rachmat explained that initially the 212 activities resulted from a blasphemy incident committed by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok as the governor of DKI Jakarta at that time.

At that time, the MUI had issued a religious opinion and attitude as a representative of the clergy. Ahok was also convicted even though he was still serving a criminal sentence. That is, the case was declared over.

"So many residents came to the West Java MUI to ask for the essence of 212. Because the problem that triggered the emergence of the 212 movement was over. There is no longer any problem. Now, what's the problem? It's over, "he said.

MUI also called on the people of West Java not to be provoked by activities with unclear origins.

As the region with the largest population of Indonesia, the people of West Java have an interest in carrying out useful activities, such as recitations in mosques, istigasah or zikir together for the security of the Indonesian people.

"All this is in the interest of the Republic of Indonesia In addition to the efforts, prayers must also be accomplished.Ask this country to be saved and kept out of the way. the nature of noise, riots, etc., "he said.

Rachmat also asked the public not to conclude his political activities on religious issues before the 2019 presidential elections.

"Political activities continue, but do not use religious attachments," he said.

In the same place, Rafani Achyar, secretary of the MUI of West Java, estimated that the current 212 activities no longer exist and that they lead rather to political activities.

"The problem is that there is no gas, so we call on the community, the people, to take advantage of the time they spend on more productive activities. to organize taklim bademblies, joint commemorations and others to ask for security, security in this political year, "he explained.

Previously, the MUI had called on the people of West Java not to mobilize or participate in the 212 meeting activities scheduled for December 2, 2018 in Jakarta.
