JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Papua Governor Lukas Enembe said President Joko Widodo wanted to sell 51.2% of PT Freeport Indonesia's shares to the great Papuan people, not just businessmen and conglomerates.
This was revealed by Enembe after meeting President Jokowi at the presidential office in Jakarta on Thursday (29.11.2018). Lukas was accompanied by Deputy Governor of Papua Klemen Tinal.
"President Jokowi stressed that we should pay attention to the bias of the provincial governments of Papua and Mimika.Do not let anyone go into the dark," said Lukas during a meeting with the president.
"We are proud. Our thoughts yesterday, the President did not pay attention. It turned out that it was really on the side of the Papuan community," he continued.
The Deputy Governor of Papua, Klemen Tinal, explained that this statement referred to the disinvestment of shares that had taken place in the 1990s by Indonesian conglomerates.
"So that the 10% of the Papuans can own and own the part.Do not wear the names of the Papuans, tell this PT, know who is behind him the conglomerate, including the mice. This means the president," said Mr. Klemen.
"Because the Freeport divestment was originally launched, but that happened, now we're hoping the second one is more correct, in fact 51% of the population is for the Indonesian people and 10% for the people of Papua. There is no attachment the attachment is A, B, C, "he continued.
It is known that PT Bakrie Investindo bought 10% of Freeport shares for approximately $ 213 million, exactly in December 1991. However, 2.5 years later, in early 1997, Bakrie sold its Freeport shares to the group. Nusamba companies through a debt mechanism.

Klemen pointed out that the provincial government of Papua was constantly ensuring that the distribution of 10% of the regional government's actions could be done properly.
"We are consistent and committed, we will prove that this is true, it is a pride for the Indonesian people that for decades, this time under President Jokowi, they have been able to suppress 51% of the disinvestment provided for in Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, "continued Klemen.
Kompas TV The Ministry of State Enterprises has once again targeted the process of divestment of Freeport Indonesia's shares by mining group Inalum, which is due to be completed by the end of 2018. In addition to Freeport's commercial status under the labor contract, namely a special operating permit or IUPK, the transfer of Freeport shares is still hampered by environmental pollution problems.
