MOUNTAIN VIEW, iNews.id – Instagram has announced several new improvements. This new enhancement is for people with visual impairments.

Instagram recognizes that the improvements made this time will greatly help various photo services easily accessible by more than 285 million people worldwide with a visual impairment.

Instagram has introduced automatic alternate text so that users can hear descriptions of photos via their screen reader when using Feed, Profile and Explore. Everything is possible thanks to object recognition technology so that users can hear a list of items that can hold photos when they browse the application.

Custom alternative texts are also available here. Thus, users can add photo descriptions of those who are richer when they are uploaded. People using a screen reader can then listen to this description.

This is the first time this feature is offered by Instagram. Its parent company, Facebook, has been using object recognition technology for years to describe photos to visually impaired users.

As quoted iNews.id Ubergizmo, Thursday (29.11.2018), but the measures taken by Facebook services are going in the right direction. The "alternative text" itself is now widely used online.
