DEPOK, KOMPAS.com – Today, the treatment of organic waste can use the help of flies. Although flies are considered as dangerous insects because they are closely related to various diseases, they do not all have an adverse influence.
Even with the use of flies, it can help us overcome waste problems that are becoming increasingly worrying. How, using black army flies (Hermetia illucens) badyze the garbage.
However, it should be noted that the waste that can be decomposed is organic waste such as leftover food and materials that can be consumed by humans.
By allowing larvae or flies of the black army's flies to consume organic waste, the process of decomposing waste has begun. From this process, many useful things can be produced.

"Our cattle, like chickens or ducks, will be able to give life later," said Pandu Damai, Biomagg's operations director, when he met on Thursday (27/12/2018) in Depok.
"At home, it is also used to feed catfish, and these impurities in the fly can be used as compost," he continued.
Pandu explained, although Maggot is known as something disgusting, in the case of fly belonging to the black army's flies, he is declared safe for livestock consumption.
In fact, he said, these larvae contain a lot of good protein for livestock.
With this system, it seems to be giving a new choice to address the problem of waste management, especially organic waste.
With the support of different parties such as Jasindo and BPPT, Biomagg wishes to apply this method to small areas in order to reduce the dependence of waste accumulation at a given time.
"So we want to treat the waste from the source because the cost of the waste problem is exhausted when transporting the waste to the final disposal site," Pandu said.
"So we want organic waste to be treated at least in their nearest location, so markets and housing complexes have places like this," he said.
He said, this method is quite effective at small scale. If calculated, from 10 grams of black army eggs, it can be used to treat 450 kg of organic waste each day.
This figure is considered sufficient for the scope of housing.

However, the challenge in doing so lies in the willingness of the community to begin to get used to sorting organic, inorganic and residues from each home.
If you want to use this method to treat organic waste in the future, it will be very helpful to sort them out starting with each house.
"We hope this will become an industry and benefit the community," Pandu concluded.
