Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan said he prepared 450 water pumps to overcome the threat flood in Jakarta. Water pumps will be alerted to points exposed to floods.
Data from the DKI's Water Resources Agency (SDA), there are currently more than 30 flood-prone points that are subject to intensive monitoring. However, Anies did not specify where he wanted to come to the flood spots.
"There are more than 450 pumps and according to the information received, they are all in working order," Anies told Jakarta City Hall on Monday (12/11).
In addition, said Anies, the provincial government of DKI will accelerate the construction of drainage systems as well as the dredging of rivers in anticipation of floods. Anies said his party would also be conducting traffic engineering in flood-prone areas.
"We have points that have often been flooded, but no traffic engineering is anticipated, so the impact is felt by many people," he said.
However, this former Minister of Education and Culture did not explain in detail the traffic engineering issues that will be implemented later.
The provincial government of DKI, continued Anies, will also organize a socialization in potentially floodable places. In addition, DKI's provincial government will also conduct emergency response simulations to improve community preparedness for floods.
"We started with technical simulations of road traffic and early evacuation for residents living in flood-prone areas," said Anies.
For his part, Anies said that if the provincial government of DKI also provided logistics, such as drinking water and sanitation, in areas likely to be flooded.
"Ensuring that the channeling mechanism of help in various locations is proceeding quickly and on schedule," said Anies.
Complete the vertical drainage program
Anies then promised that a vertical drainage program would be revised at the end of November.
Vertical drainage is one of the promises of the Anies campaign to the citizens of Jakarta during the 2017 DKI election campaign.
"Now, there are several places we will announce, hopefully we can show the results by the end of November, now that the process is under way," said Anies.
Anies explained that vertical drainage was carried out in densely populated residential areas. Nevertheless, he added, not all regions could implement the vertical drainage program.
"This is not done in places where the earth is no longer able to absorb water." In places where the soil can no longer absorb moisture, it can not absorb water. water, the pumping is done, "he said.
More than that, Anies also promised to provide intensive services specifically for residents or companies that perform vertical drainage independently.
"Later this will include intensive activities for households and offices to build vertical drainage facilities," said Anies.
Recruit volunteers for floods
Anies recruited 1,400 volunteers to provide flood reports in Jakarta.
According to Anies, many flood reports received by Jakarta Smart City have not been confirmed. Therefore, the Jakarta Smart City Technical Management Unit (UPT) must first verify these reports.
"It's a problem because how can we receive reports, we do not know the validity of the report," Anies said.
Anies said that so far, the smart city of Jakarta had received numerous complaints regarding the verification of information related to floods. Because they have to recheck the report.
"Get a lot of reports but credibility must first be tested," he said.
He also said that the verification process slowed the report's follow-up by the government of Jakarta province. In the future, continued Anies, the provincial government of DKI will no longer be informed of the floods without a due diligence process.
For this reason, the provincial government of DKI is recruiting 1,400 volunteers who have been selected and verified by the DKI administrative office in Jakarta to report floods in the Jakarta region.
Volunteers included RT, RW, kelurahan deliberation institutions (LMK) and early community awareness forums (FKDMs).
"From now on, we already have 1,400 verified people in the Jakarta area," said Anies.
Anies said 1,400 volunteers knew how to submit flood point reports accurately.
"When it sends a report, we do not need to check the report again," he said.
