Apple claims that the iPhone XR is selling well, but …

Jakarta – Amid the lousy news on the sale of new iPhones, Apple has actually given a different statement. According to the Cupertino Corporation, California, USA, the iPhone XR is selling well.

"The iPhone XR is the world's most popular iPhone since it's available on the market," said Greg Joswiak, vice president of product marketing at Apple, quoted by The edgeThursday (29/11/2018).

Joswiak's statement looked like an attempt to dispel speculation about the low sales of three new iPhones, namely the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR. Specifically, the badyst report was hugely rolling over the fact that the sale of the iPhone XR, the cheapest of the two "brothers and sisters", was to hit, and not even predict.

This is the first official statement from Apple regarding the commercial performance of the iPhone XR. But, what made me later curious, Apple did not even mention in detail the number of iPhone XR sold to date.

In fact, without concrete data, there is no criterion to determine whether the sale of the iPhone XR is actually successful or slightly higher than the XS and XS Max models, also considered low in terms of sales.

Note, before the opening of the iPhone XR pre-order, the cheapest version of the last iPhone should sell well beyond the initial estimate.

The prediction made by Ming-Chi Kuo, an badyst at TF International Securities, for example. Kuo is known to have accurate forecasts in his badysis of Apple.

"We think the demand for the XR will be better than for the iPhone 8, last year because the XR has a bigger screen, a better battery, a dual SIM card and a new physical form" said Kuo last October.

However, in his latest note to investors in the middle of this month, Kuo instead provided a predictive revision of the iPhone XR that immediately indicated that market acceptance was not as enthusiastic as the forecasts initials.
