Apple sells less than a million iPhones in India

Apple is hard to sell its products in India.

Jakarta: Apple is struggling to sell its products in India. They started building factories to produce the iPhone locally at lower prices.

However, it seems that the road to success for Apple is still long. Apple sold less than one device in India during the first half of 2018.

Three Apple executives reportedly left the company when Apple reportedly attempted to restructure their operations in India. Apple only has a two percent market share in India.

In 2017, they sold 3.2 million iPhones, according to a report from Counterpoint Research. However, iPhone sales in India seem to be down.

It is estimated that Apple only distributes "less than a million devices". And though, iPhone sales have gone up, Apple still seems to be unable to catch up with sales figures from last year, as mentioned by The Verge .

India is the third largest smartphone market in the world. However, the Indian government has set a fairly high tariff, making mobile phone prices 15 to 20 percent more expensive. This encourages people to choose more affordable phones, such as the smartphones manufactured by Samsung or Xiaomi.

India has great potential for Apple. CEO Tim Cook says they'll take a more aggressive step to enter the Indian market.

Now, India is busy expanding their 4G network and having a growing middle clbad. This means that more and more people are ready to use Apple products.
