Clarification: NTSC declares PK-LQP Lion Air worth theft

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) clarified a number of information that it was impossible to fly the Lion Air PK-LQP aircraft between Denpasar and Jakarta.

Previously, the NTSC considered that the aircraft was not worth flying when it was taking the road from Denpasar to Jakarta on October 28, 2019 or the day before the accident. But the statement has been clarified again.

"The registration of the Air Lion Boeing B 737-8 (MAX) PK-LQP is in good flight condition when it leaves Denpasar Bali with flight number JT 043 and at the time of Jakarta with flight number JT 610 ", said the chairman of the NTSC flight accident investigation subcommittee. Nurcahyo Utomo in a press release, Jakarta, Thursday (29.11.2018).

According to Indonesian regulations, Nurcahyo stated that the aircraft was fit for flight if the Aircraft Maintenance Log (AFML) was signed by engineer (release officer)

The answer, if there is a problem, the pilot will report the problem after landing. Then the engineer makes improvements and is followed by tests.

Once the results are obtained, the engineer will sign AFML. The plane was declared worthy of flight.

"One of the conditions that causes navigability (navigability) ends when the flight is disrupted. The decision to start or land immediately is in the hands pilot commander (Captain), "he said.

Previously, Lion Air had asked the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) to provide clarification on information related to non-flightable PK-LQP aircraft.

Lion Air Group President Edward Sirait said that in the news, PK-LQP aircraft were on the road from Denpasar to Jakarta on October 28, 2019, the day before the plane crashed in the waters from Karawang.

"This statement in our opinion is not true," said Edward at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (28.11.2018).

Edward said, Lion Air asked the NTSC to clarify the issue Thursday (29/11/2018) in writing.

If the NTSC does not respond to the clarification request, Lion Air, said Edward, will take several measures, including legal measures.
