Jakarta – The strengthening of the exchange rate of the rupee against the US dollar is a breath of fresh air for the PT PLN (Persero). According to PLN's managing director, Sofyan Basir, every rupee has increased the burden on society.

As we know, the US dollar was broken at 15,000 rupees, but fell to the US dollar at the level of 14,300 rupees.

"The rupee has firmed up, the price of oil has gone down, it was a sustenance of Allah for PLN, for the employees, for you," said the general manager PLN, Sofyan Basir, in front of the Jakarta Parliament on Thursday 11/29/2018.

Sofyan said, each rupiah boosted by 100 rupees, and then the burden borne by the PLN fell by 1300 billion rupees. He hopes the rupiah will continue to strengthen.

"Imagine that for 100 rupees down you can get 1 300 billion rupees, that's great, so we always pray for the rupee to be strong," he added.

As for the financial projections of PLN until the end of the year, Sofyan provided no explanation.

"I do not know yet, we have another month left," said Sofyan.

For information, PLN until the third quarter of 2018 suffered losses of up to 18 488 billion rupees. This record is inversely proportional to the same period in 2017 when PLN had managed to pocket a net profit of 3.05 billion rupees.

PLN pocketed a business income of 200.9 billion rupees. This figure rose 6.9% of operating revenue in the third quarter of 2017 to reach 187 800 billion rupees, but the company's operating expenses rose from 200 300 to 224 billion rupees.

The heaviest burden is for fuels and lubricants, which rose from Rs 85.28 billion to Rs 101.87 billion. This led to a commercial loss before subsidies rose from Rs 12.42 billion to Rs 23 billion. While added government subsidies increased slightly from Rs 36.19 billion to Rs 39.77 billion.

As a result, profits after subsidies fell sharply from Rs 23.76 billion to Rs 16.69 billion. The financial burden of the company also rose from 14.78 to 16.18 billion rupees
