"Indonesia must be the main player of lithium batteries, we are the main players, we are the global market control.How can we make it efficient, now we become players," he said. added.

Luhut added that the development of lithium batteries is good for the environment. Because lithium batteries can be recycled.

"Now, lithium batteries can be recycled," he said.

Luhut also said that there were several interested investors. "There are now China, Japan and South Korea that are interested, about $ 4.3 billion (the equivalent of 61.49 billion rupees with an exchange rate of 14,300 rupees)" , did he declare.

Investors intend to develop a lithium battery plant in Morowali. They will cooperate with the Indonesian landowners of the Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP).

For the initial phase, investors will release funds of approximately US $ 700 million. "This is only the initial investment, because of the diversity of batteries," said Luhut.

The battery factory will start on January 11, 2019. The construction works are expected to last about 2 years.
