VIVA – Minister of Communications and Informatics, Rudiantara says that blocking the Tik Tok application is done because a lot of negative content threatens children.
He said the blockage was done based on Kominfo's community reports and monitoring. Rudiantara also admitted, Tik Tok is actually a platform or a good app for people expressing creativity through live stream .
"But a lot of content that is negative especially for children that I think is indecent and unfit to be broadcast," Rudiantara said at the Nahdhatul Ulama Council's bihalal Halal event (PBNU), Jakarta, on Tuesday evening 3 July 2018.
He reported that Kominfo co-ordinated the Ministry of Protection of Women and Children (APP) and the Indonesian Commission for Child Protection (KPAI). Kominfo has sent an e-mail to Tik Tok.
"We also sent an email to Tik Tok, but we have not responded to this yet," he said.
He explains that the blocking of Tik Tok is done until the application is ready to clean the negative content and to guarantee in the future that the content of the platform does not become a den of negative content. "It's the same as Bigo, but Bigo has also been blocked but he has cleaned up his contents and given some guarantees.Today's dozens of people keep their contents so that there is no negative content, we will reactivate it if it is already the case ".
On the one hand, Rudiantara recognizes that the problem does not really come from the platform, but irresponsible users.
