A recent report from Counterpoint Research on the best-selling smartphone in May 2018 has been released. Surprisingly, Samsung's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S9 +, is now in second place. At the top of the position is now owned by Apple iPhone 8.
Noted, Galaxy S9 + market share in the global market in May 2018 was only 2.4 percent. Instead, the iPhone 8, which has surprisingly managed to take the crown of best-selling smartphones during this period. Previously, Apple's smartphone was only in fifth position in April 2018.
According to Apple, Apple could succeed in making the iPhone 8 the best-selling smartphone, while continuing to lead a marketing campaign successful on the European market. In addition, in the US market, there is also a strong demand for the smartphone.

Still, the iPhone 8 is not the only Apple during this period. In fact, Apple's flagship iPhone, the iPhone X is able to maintain its position in the third place. Noted, the iPhone X has a 2.3 percent market share.

In addition to Counter and Samsung, Counterpoint Research also noted the increase of Xiaomi on a global scale, especially in China and India. In fact, the smartphone maker known to dare to offer this inexpensive device has put two products, namely Redmi 5A in fourth position and Redmi 5 Plus in ninth position.
