Lorenzo has decided to withdraw from MotoGP Japan after attempting to participate in the first free practice session on the Motegi circuit on Friday (10/19/2018).

The Spanish driver has the feeling that he is not ready to participate in the Japanese MotoGP race Sunday (10/21/2018), as he is still suffering from a left wrist injury.

Lorenzo was injured in the foot after falling to MotoGP Aragon on 23 September.

Lorenzo had attempted to regain the MotoGP track in Thailand on 7 October. However, he has just returned to an accident during the free practice session, so he did not participate in the race on the Buriram circuit. This accident injured his left wrist.

Nevertheless, this star of the Ducati is trying to get up at the Japanese MotoGP. He runs down the track during the first free practice session, then returns to pits before recording the best lap time.

Lorenzo entered the garage when the first free practice took another 39 minutes. He only spent five minutes on the track and realized that his left wrist was not ready to be used for the race.

Lorenzo is still ranked fifth in the MotoGP rankings. Lorenzo's position was threatened by Cal Crutchlow, Danilo Petrucci and Johann Zarco, who were behind with seven points.

Lorenzo only has one week to recover from an injury before the Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island on October 29th.

Meanwhile, his teammate Andrea Dovizioso managed to lead the first free practice on the Motegi circuit.

He recorded the best time in 1 minute 45.358 seconds, overtaking Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda), Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha) and the first, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda), who occupied respectively the second, third and fourth positions.
