KPK awaits judge's decision regarding Zumi Zola's permission to attend his father's funeral

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The spokesman of the Commission for the Eradication of Corruption (KPK), Febri Diansyah, said that the KPK was still waiting for the decision of the judge of the Court of Corruption regarding the authorization of the 39, accused Zumi Zola to attend the funeral of his father, Zulkifli Nurdin.

Zulkifli Nurdin died at Pondok Indah Hospital on Wednesday (28/11/2018) following an illness.

"Tomorrow, if the judge's ruling is made, he will be allowed to attend the funeral," Febri said in a statement Wednesday (28/11/2018).

Currently, Febri said, Zumi was temporarily released and delivered by the KPK to examine his father's body.

"For humanitarian reasons, the Attorney General (JPU) has already given permission to drive ZZ to the funeral home pending the judge's decision.Because of the state of detention of the trial in the court of the corruption, "said Febri.

Previously, Zumi's lawyer, said Farizi, his client's father had died around 8:00 pm, WIB time.

On Wednesday afternoon, Zumi had asked the jury to visit his father in critical condition.

At present, Zumi is still accused in the court of corruption.

Zulkifli was born on March 28, 1948 in Tanjung Jabung Timur in Muara Sabak. Zulkifli is a former governor of Jambi.

Before serving as governor for the period 2005-2010, he served in 1999-2005, before resigning from his governorship for a second term.
