Mariah Carey concert in Borobudur, collaboration of two world-wide masterpieces

YOGYAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Borobudur Temple in Magelang, in central Java, is a historic masterpiece of 9th century ancestors, still strong and majestic in the archipelago. The Buddhist site has also been recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural reserve.

PT General Manager Taman Wisata Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC), Edy Setijono, tried to generate great ideas to encourage people to love the Borobudur Temple more.

One of the ideas is a musical performance titled "Borobudur Symphony Mariah Carey in Concert" at Lumbini Park, Borobuduru Magelang Temples Complex, Tuesday (11/06/2018).

"This musical show is a collaboration of two masterpieces, namely the Borobudur Temple as a preservation of world culture, badociated with a masterpiece of music from world celebrities simultaneously" , he said at a press conference at Tentrem Hotel Yogyakarta, Monday (11/05/2018)

This concert is also part of an effort to promote the Borobudur Temple and Indonesian cultural diplomacy in the eyes of the world.

The man who famously called Tyo added that PT TWC as a state enterprise (BUMN) is committed to participating in the promotion of national tourism, particularly from the temple of Borobudur.

A number of state-owned companies synergized in this performance, including Bank Mandiri, BRI, BNI, and BTN, who later joined the group under the name Himbara. Then Patra Jasa, PGN and PLN.

"This is a manifestation of the BUMN synergy program for the country, the first collaboration between Himbara and other BUMNs, we are sitting together, because we have a mission, a nation, an excellent family, that of increasing national tourism, "he explained.

He hopes that this concert will bring significant benefits to the Borobudur Temple and surrounding communities. These benefits can be realized after concertgoers capture the photos and upload them to their respective social networks.

"What we are looking for promotional effects, there will be thousands of photos of the audience that will be broadcast on social media.Our triger is real, how to present Borobudur as a main destination for tourists, especially near NYIA airport Kulonprogo, "said Tyo.

Tyo stated that Mariah Carey was chosen for this project because her music quality was indisputable.

The diva pop has won numerous prestigious awards, including Grammy Awards, Wolrd Music Awards, American Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards.

The president, Himbara, Maryono, added that Himbara, as an badociation of state-owned banks, supports all activities aimed at increasing the number of tourist visits. Thus, the economy of the community is put to a severe test.

He considered entertainment elements such as music concerts as an important part of the tourism sector.

"There is nothing that can not be done if we are in synergy, whatever you know, whatever the artist is," he said.

He saw the enthusiasm of the community, especially the customers of these banks who were extraordinary with this concert. They enthusiastically bought the tickets provided.

"We hope that the Himbara Borobudur Symphony will become a new alternative destination for advancing the world of Indonesian tourism, in the eyes of the world," said Maryono.
