Minister responsible for coordination, Darmin, mentions that one person is behind the cause B20 ineffective

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Economic Affairs, Darmin Nasution, acknowledged that the application of 20% biodiesel or B20 could not be effective in Indonesia. In fact, around the world, the B20 has managed to reduce some of the diesel fuel imports.

However, he revealed that one party imported more diesel than before the implementation of B20.

"It is interesting to note that there are those whose imports actually increase, the others are imports, that actually increases," Darmin told Jakarta on Wednesday (28/11/2018).

"But I do not want to mention who," he continued.

Darmin was hesitant to specify who the party in question was, whether it was the private sector or BUMN. He also did not know why the party added imports because of the government's efforts to eliminate imports with B20.

Darmin confirmed that he would react to the findings.

"We do not know yet, but we know who," said Darmin.

Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics for September 2018 shows a 25.2% drop in oil and gas imports compared to the previous month. However, this decline is not due to the fact that the B20 policy has been implemented in accordance with the government's mandate.

According to Yunita Rusanti, Deputy Director of Distribution and Services Statistics, BPS has not reduced its imports of diesel significantly.

"With the existence of the B20 policy, this is not obvious, because the B20 is mixed with vegetable oil in biodiesel.We hope that diesel imports can be reduced by 20%, "said Yunita.

The results were echoed by Djoko Siswanto, general manager of ESDM for the oil and gas sector. He said the distribution of B20 still faces distribution problems in several regions.

There are problems with shipping delays due to shipping availability issues.

"Incidentally, the offer is not every day, a boat for a month, there are two, so every two weeks, so it can not be from September 1. We ask now the calendar when it will provide the next, so that the business entity can adjust in a mixed way, "said Djoko. .
