PBSI refuses to become host to host major BWF tournaments until 2025

Bola.com, Jakarta – PBSI decided not to present to the organizers of major events or tournaments of the World Badminton Federation (BWF) throughout 2019-2025. This attitude was adopted because the system applied by BWF was considered binding on the host country.

The six tournaments that form part of the BWF's major events are the World Championship, the World Veterans Championship, the World Junior Championship, the Suhandinata Cup (World Junior Team Championship), the Thomas and Uber Cup and the World Championship. Sudirman Cup.

BWF imposes a commercial distribution of 80-20 at each major tournament. This means that BWF fully controls eighty percent of sponsorship of exhibits. The host country receives only twenty percent. For example, adding sponsor logos to marginal electronic boards, media zone backgrounds, and other promotional materials is part of this 80-20 rule.

The rule is considered difficult for the host country to find sponsors who can satisfy this provision. In fact, the financing needs of events are not low and continue to increase each year.
