PLN consumers who want to install solar roof panels

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Ignasius Jonan, issued Ministerial Regulation (Permen) No. 49 of 2018 regarding the use of roof solar energy systems by consumers of PT PLN.

This rule is valid since the promulgation of November 16, 2018.

This regulation itself aims to increase the use of new renewable energy in the national energy mix. In addition, the goal is also to reduce the PLN electricity bill.

Under this regulation, the capacity of the solar energy system on the roof is limited to 100% of the electricity connected by PLN customers. If a household has 1,300 kWh of electrical energy, the maximum amount of PLTS that can be installed is 1,300 kWh maximum.

The calculation of electricity exports and imports from PLTS Roof is calculated on the basis of the export value in kWh recorded in the kWh meter of exports and imports multiplied by 65%.

If the amount of electricity exported is greater than the amount of electricity imported the current month, the excess will be accumulated and calculated as a reduction of the customer 's electricity bill the following month.

The calculated excess is accumulated for up to three months for the calculation of the electricity bill period from January to March, from April to June, from July to September or from October. to December.

However, if the accumulated surplus subsists after calculating the electricity billing period in March, June, September or December of the current year, the difference is supposed to be canceled.

If the PLN customer is interested in the installation of Roof PLTS at his home, he must then submit a PLTS roof installation application to the general manager of the main unit of the PLB distribution area, with administrative and technical requirements.

For prepaid customers, they must submit a change to the electricity payment mechanism for postpaid services.

After submitting an application, PLN will conduct an badessment and verification for the approval of the application no later than 15 working days after receipt of the application in its entirety.

If the client's request does not meet the administrative requirements or technical requirements, the PLN will send a written notification regarding the lack of requirements to be completed no later than two working days after the badessment and verification.

The PLTS Roof installation system must have a certificate of operation.
