The visit is expected to provide a new platform for both leaders to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, including providing Malaysia with an opportunity to present the latest government policy and take a stand on a certain number of problems.

In addition, the two leaders also have the opportunity to exchange their views on regional and global issues of mutual interest to Malaysia and Indonesia.

The close relationship between the two countries has been around for a long time. Malaysia considers Indonesia as one of the most important friends country.

In 2017, the total commercial value of the two countries was estimated at 255 900 billion rupiahs, an increase of 22% over 2016.

This figure makes Indonesia the seventh largest trading partner of Malaysia on a global scale and the third largest in the regional sphere of ASEAN after Singapore and Thailand.
