Response from Minister Susi after being criticized by fishermen in front of Jokowi

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Maritime and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti has been criticized by fishermen in the presence of President Joko Widodo.

This is what happened when President Jokowi was accompanied by Susi to the hospitality of the representative of the Indonesian fishermen at the State Palace, Tuesday (22/01/2019) .

Then, what is Minister Susi's response to criticism?

"It's good, it's normal, there are people who like it or not," he told reporters at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (23/01/2019) .

The fisherman who criticized Susi was Agus Mulyono from Lamongan. Agus felt that the Minister of Susi should not ban the use of fishing gear cantrang because they do not harm the environment.

He also criticized the government's Cantrang substitutes for failing to catch the fish effectively.

"The tool proved unsuitable because each region was different, the characteristics of the fish were different," Agus told Jokowi and Minister Susi.

However, Minister Susi has always refused to legalize the use of cantrang. According to him, Cantrang fishermen are currently only allowed to fish for a certain period of time. However, Susi has not yet determined the deadline.

"(Cantrang) has been legalized, he has not been able to, and no decision has yet been made, but navigation is now possible," said Susi.
