In the election conducted with a manual voting mechanism on the last day of the XVII Muhammadiyah Youth Conference at the Sportstarium of Muhammadiyah University on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, Sunanto managed to eliminate two powerful opponents Ahmad Fanani and Ahmad Labib.

Sunanto managed to get 590 votes while his rival Ahmad Fanani got 266 votes and Ahmad Labib 292 votes.

"Thank you for your support, it's a common victory and I hope all of them will remain united in Muhammadiyah's youth corps because the fight is still long," Sunanto told his supporters in the courtroom. 'Umy.

Sunanto said that he would not let his rivals fight in the presidential race.

"I always need everything to fight for the values ​​of Muhammadiyah, I will not let all the friends of this conference because they are all identical under Muhammadiyah," Sunanto said.

In fact, there are six presidential candidates who fought in this game. The other three candidates, Faisal, who received 2 votes from Muhammad Syukron 2 and Andi Fajar Asti, did not get a vote.

In his dynamic, Muhammad Syukron chose to divert his support to Sunanto. While Andi Fajar Asti and the Faisal coalition supported Ahmad Labib through the Taawun coalition.

Sunanto is an active activist in Pemuda Muhammadyah for a long time. He followed in the footsteps of the organization starting from the Muhammadiyah Students' Association (IMM) with Muhammad Syukron. Finally, Sunanto serves as
