Supporting the financial literacy of the state, BPK inaugurated the research library

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) inaugurated a research library at BPK headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday (28/06/2018). The library must support the importance of literacy on governance and accountability of public finances.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Finance Mardiasmo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristek Dikti) Ainun Na'im, Director of the National Library Muhammad Syarif Bando and Vice President of Universitas Indonesia Adi Zakaria Afiff.

In his speech, BPK Vice President Bahrullah Akbar said that public awareness was important and should help the BPK understand the governance and accountability of the state's finances.

"In the credibility of governance and accountability of public finances, public awareness is needed, why research libraries are created so that officials can review the results of the BPK audit," he said. Thursday at the Auditorium.

Bahrullah said the new research library will support research on financial management and state accountability, providing data, information and knowledge on public sector finances. The collection includes 21,852 copies of books with 17,410 book titles, as well as e-books and electronic journals.

In addition, the library also cooperates with the BPK Information and Communication Center to open public access to the institutional review report as research material.

In 2015, BPK published a review of government accounting and financial accountability that contains research literature and scientific journals related to the field. Later, Bahrullah revealed, he will continue to try to digitize many sources of science that he has.

"We also have a newspaper of the year 1816. Later, we will digitize the writings to follow the time," he concluded.
