The body of the climbing guides killed at the top of Carstensz was brought to Bandung

TIMIKA, KOMPAS.com – The body of Andika Pratama, guide of the mountaineers killed at Carstensz Peak in Mimika, Papua, was flown to her hometown of Bandung, West Java, on Sunday, 11/04/2018.

The deceased was airlifted by Garuda Indonesia from Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport to Jakarta at 14:40 (WIT).

Before being transported by plane, the deceased was addressed to the Great Mosque of Babussalam, Jalan KH. Dewantara, city of Timika.

According to Sofyan Arie Fiesa, one of his deceased colleagues, the plan for Andika's body will arrive in Jakarta around 7 pm and will be pursued by road until the funeral home of Bandung.

"The next step is the funeral process," Sofyan told reporters.

The deceased was born in Palembang on June 2, 1983 and was registered as resident of Jalan Padang Golf, No. 18 RT / RW 04/01, Sukamiskin Village, Arcamanik District, Bandung City, West Java.

The deceased was known as a climbing guide and had often climbed Carstensz Peak.

Amarhum and three of his colleagues were accompanying six foreign mountaineers from Russia and Azerbaijan at the time.

"Andika was hit by a rock during training or acclimation before climbing to Carstensz Peak," concluded Sofyan.
