TRIBUNJABAR.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Commission for Child Protection (KPAI) notes that in the past four months, more than eight million people have been abducted.

Some of them are hoaxes.

"Based on the badysis of online news, the number of kidnappings has been growing in importance over the past four months," said KPAI's president, Ms. Susanto MA at the KPAI office in Menteng, central Jakarta, on Friday (11/2/2018).

To be exact, 8,054,000 child abduction records have been recorded in the last four months.

In July, there were 635,000 news items, 969,000 news items in August, an increase of 2,150,000 in September and 4,300,000 news in October.

Meanwhile, on the second day, beginning of November 2018, 1,010,000 news were reported regarding kidnappings.

Reports on kidnapping whose veracity is not known will indirectly disturb parents and children themselves.

To this end, the KPAI has asked the police to act decisively against the perpetrators of the hoax that has prevented the community from maintaining the safety and comfort of Indonesian children without concern.

The field of education should also establish inter-agency cooperation with student tutors to prevent undesirable acts.

"Ask all education units of the two schools, madrbadas and Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia to continue to raise awareness," said Dr. Susanto MA.

In addition, parents must also be able to exercise their parental responsibilities well in order not to create fear or excessive worry.

In response to the issue of trapping the authors of kidnappings of infants, the Inspector General of Public Relations Police Headquarters, Setyo Wasisto, said that Under the Children's Protection Act No. 35 of 2014, those who negotiate, sell or abduct children are sentenced to 15 years in prison and a fine of 300 million rupees.

Setyo appealed to the public for information that was not yet known, so as not to disseminate it.

If the public wants to ensure the veracity of the viral news, it can report complaints about the content of the site aduankonten.id.

"It is recommended, when you stop it, to stop or check the content complaint," he said in the same place.
