BATAM – One of four methamphetamine detainees (1.6 tons) sentenced to death by the Batam District Court has carried an article containing insults to Indonesia.

The defendant Cen Meisheng, of Chinese nationality, waved kanji writing in the media during the trial.

When the defendant showed the writing, the policeman and the language interpreter had banned the team of journalists from taking pictures. The translator said that a sheet of paper containing Chinese characters insulted Indonesia.

"Already, my brother, do not take photos, the writing is bad for Indonesia," said Steven, the translator, Thursday (29.11.2018).

Even in this case, the defendant presented the newspaper to the media team, until one of the police finally took the newspaper from the defendant's hand.

"Yes, if you want to ask, it means that it will end after the trial," said the officer. (READ ALSO: 4 Chinese 1.6 Ton Sabu-Sabu Carrier Sentenced to the Death Penalty)

It should be noted that four Chinese nationals were sentenced to death by the Batam District Court Thursday (29.11.2018) at 19:20 WIB, because they had proved that they were wearing a shabu-shabu weighing 1 622 tonnes in February 2018.

The four people sentenced to death were Chen Hui (42), Chen Yi (32), Chen Meisheng (68) and Yao Yin Fa (63). They violated Article 114 (2) in conjunction with Article 132 (1) of the Narcotic Drugs Act No 35/2009.

Judge Muhammad Chandra said in his ruling that the accused deliberately transported Myanmar shabu-shabu to Indonesia and were captured in Batam waters. The verdict of the panel of judges was the same as that of the Attorney General who had previously prosecuted the defendants with the death penalty.
