Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Grab, the online and offline application company, launches a trial of electric scooter rentals or electric scooter. The trial was held on one of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Kent Ridge campuses since Monday, November 19, 2018.
As mentioned in the Straits Times, the service called GrabWheels will be tested for 3 months. Not much electricity will be placed in 8 car parks around the campus. This is the first time that an application is tested in Singapore.
GrabWheels, which is still in the beta stage, will replace GrabCycle's bike rental services, which will be closed on December 21, 2018. GrabCycle users will be invited to download GrabWheels once they have been made available to the public.
In this test, each user will be charged 20 cents per maximum usage of 30 minutes. GrabWheels payments use GrabPay and all rentals are covered by insurance.
To use this service, users can approach one of the parking stations and open a powered scooter with the GrabWheels Beta application.
Until the destination, the application asks the user to bring the scooter to the nearest parking lot and lock it with the application. Each night, the Grab team charges the battery of the electric scooter and brings it back to the initial parking station.
