Victims affected by a tree can claim compensation from the forest service

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Susi Marsitawati, acting head of the DKI Forest Service in Jakarta, called on people affected by trees in Jakarta to seek redress from them.

"Please, send a request to the forestry service," Susi said during her meeting at the DPRD in Jakarta on Tuesday (27/10/2018).

According to Susi, before going to the forest service office or the service office in six areas of Jakarta, victims of falling trees were asked to report to the police. The police report will be the proof.

"Photos of events and police reports attached," Susi said.

The amount of compensation to be awarded depends on the damage or treatment suffered. He said that during the past week, three people had already filed a claim for compensation.

"There are already three cars, if that's right, that have been hit in central Jakarta," Susi said.

Last week, many trees were felled. On Thursday, for example, heavy rains resulted in the collapse of trees on several roads in central Jakarta and east Jakarta. Transjakarta, taxis, bikers and Indomaret buildings were damaged by trees.
