JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo sang a verse of the song "Deen Assalam" popularized by the gambus music group Nisa Sabyan.

The moment came between President Jokowi's speech at the 23rd National Qasidah Gambus Song Festival at Hajj dormitory in East Jakarta on Thursday (29.11.2018).

At first, the president discussed the development of gambu music in Indonesia today. He then called the band Nisa Sabyan.

"The latest is the Sabyan group, run by young people, the new Nisa Sabyan could be 18 or 19. This sabyan appears with a millennial style," said Jokowi.

The last time he saw a video of Nisa Sabyan via Youtube, the number of viewers reached 174 million.

"It's almost as much as the Indonesian population," continued Jokowi.

The president also said that one of Sabyan's favorite songs is a song called "Deen Assalam".

Suddenly, Jokowi sang a song like this.

"Abtahiyyat wabsalam … Ansyuru ahlal kalam …"

"I already think that the sound of mothers here is a better and smarter song," said Jokowi, who was greeted with laughter.
