Jerez – Maverick Vinales is happy after taking the MotoGP test in Jerez on the second day. Startup speed problems are solved even if they are still limited by traction.
The Yamaha rider finished the test session on Thursday (29.11.2018) with third or fourth place overall. At the last test, Vinales was only 0.121 seconds behind Takaaki Nakagami, the fastest driver.
"I can say that Yamaha is solving its problems, especially those related to the speed of the race," said Vinales. GPOne"After this test, I am very happy today, I can keep a good speed with worn tires and full of gasoline.
"I am fully focused on the engine and the decision is clear (use a machine with better braking settings) and then of course there is still room for a further increase."
"What's important is that we've found a base to start, the next steps will increase top speed and traction, but in general, M1 is a competitive bike."
Vinales acknowledged that the grip of the rear tire had yet to be corrected. The problem will be at the center of the winter test.
"Traction is still our weak point, but I'm still fast despite this problem and on a track where I still have problems in MotoGP, which means that the bike is working well," continued Vinales.
"It's not a coincidence that I'm only 0.1 seconds from the first driver on a difficult track for Yamaha." (rin / yna)
