"The history of the world is the history of the young. If the young generation is numb, all nations die" (Pramoedya Ananta Toer).

In the history of this country, young people play an important role and become the driving force of enlightenment. The Youth Pledge event of October 28, 1928 is a concrete example for the Indonesian people. The Rengasdengklok event, August 16, 1945, shows how powerful the power of youth is. Soekarni, Wikana and Sale Saleh have kidnapped Soekarno-Hatta in Rengasdengklok. accelerate the proclamation of Indonesia. This effort finally succeeded. The next day, August 17, 1945, Soekarno-Hatta proclaimed the independence of Indonesia.

Time pbaded, but the strength was still the same when we recalled the events of 1998. The students called for the abolition of KKN (corruption, collusion and nepotism). The 1998 incident was also accompanied by various actions that culminated in the tragedy of Cimanggis, the tragedy of Gejayan, the tragedy of Trisakti, the tragedy of Semanggi I and II and the tragedy of Lampung. The most phenomenal phenomenon occurred when the students successfully occupied the DPR / MPR building. In the end, President Soeharto gave up his post and marked the end of the New Order for reform.

A series of activities and movements of young people and students in the past had to be based on the love of the nation. The stormy feeling of patriotism was accompanied by unity, intellectual intelligence, finesse of thought and spirit of movement. But now that the years have pbaded and the situation of the nation has changed, 90 years after the promise made to young people, the situation of Indonesian youth is also different: the development of a spirit of patriotism in the generation born and growing in the digital environment of today 's call a millennial generation.

As we know, the millennial generation is a population that is expected to reach 60% of the total population in Indonesia by 2020, or 81 million Indonesians aged 17 to 37 out of a total population of more than 255 million. This millennium term is intended to describe a different generation of the previous generation, namely the generation that was raised differently, under different circumstances and whose objectives, ambitions and motivations are different.

Different characters
Different ages must be different characters formed. This is influenced by factors of education, lifestyle, technology, environment, and so on. Compared to what is better between old youth and today's youth, we need to clearly compare the factors mentioned above. For example, pre-independence youth have shown their identity as a generation capable of viewing the unity of the nation as the main capital of independence.

There can be no denying that to achieve independence, unity and unity are the main goals of the struggle at this time. Before independence, the Indonesian nation was crushed and depressed by the colonial situation. The colonial period has become a dark and dark period for the Indonesian people. All efforts and struggles are always centered on independence. The aspiration to independence has become a common goal, becoming a spirit with the youth movement and other elements of the period before independence.

At that time, young people were in fact in an era of maintaining the integrity of the country, where the task is just as heavy. We know that young people today are easily connected to the world online. They have many opportunities to obtain information. They tend to want to achieve something quickly and instantly because they are familiar with the ease of technology. But we must remember that they are creative generations. Indeed, the millennial generation is growing with the presence of social media, which makes them addicted to attention.

They will be very grateful and motivated if they will have the opportunity to speak, to express and to be welcomed by their ideas by others. They crave knowledge, personal development and enjoy sharing their experiences. On the other hand, the millennial generation has not hesitated to express its frustration with social media. So it's what we called "young men struggling with sharp bamboo problems and young people struggling with social media".
