‘Industry’ to release final five episodes on HBO Max early

HBO is entering uncharted waters of programming.

The premium cable company has made the decision to drop the last five episodes of its drama “Industry” on HBO Max all at once. Beginning Friday, November 27, viewers will be able to stream the entire eight-episode first season, while linear screenings continue on a weekly basis.

Sources with knowledge of the decision say all episodes were already over, so releasing them en masse over Thanksgiving weekend is a game to draw more attention to the series. News of the midseason episode’s downfall comes right after the third episode aired, and also just five days after it was revealed that “Wonder Woman 1984” was released both in theaters and on HBO Max on the same day. , as WarnerMedia is experimenting with different ways to increase the number of subscribers of its new streamer.

“Industry” follows a group of young graduates fueled by ambition, youth, romance and drugs, examining issues of gender, race, class and privilege in the workplace. As the series progresses, the central impressionable young minds begin to forge their identity in the pressure cooker environment and the sensory blitz of the Pierpoint & Co trading room, where meritocracy is promised but hierarchy reigns.

The series originates from first-time creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, and stars Myha’la Herrold (“The Tattooed Heart”), Marisa Abela (“Cobra”), Harry Lawtey (“The City of Little Lights” ), David Jonsson (“Deep State”) and Nabhaan Rizwan (“Mogul Mowgli”) as the new kids of the financial bloc, as well as Conor MacNeill (“Artemis Fowl”), Freya Mavor (“Skins”), Will Tudor ( “Game of Thrones”) and Ken Leung (“High Maintenance”) as managers at Pierpoint & Co.
