Former Infinity Ward president and co-founder of Respawn Entertainment, Jason West, has joined Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite and Unreal Engine. According to an Epic spokesperson, West is "contributing to Epic's development efforts."
The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley first reported the news on Twitter, saying that West had joined the company about a month ago. Epic confirmed to Polygon that the co-head of Infinity Ward and Respawn is now at the company, but did not comment on the project or projects.
West co-founded Infinity Ward with Vince Zampella and Grant Collier in 2002. This team created the original Call of Duty series and the popular Modern Warfare sub-series, but West and Zampella were commissioned by Activision in 2010. The duo later formed Titanfall Respawn Entertainment studio, where Zampella still works. West retired from Respawn in 2013 to address unspecified family issues.
