Inside Matthew Stafford’s chic mansion, relisted for $ 6.5 million, with the state’s largest infinity pool

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI – Matthew and Kelly Stafford will be leaving Michigan soon as the Lions and their 12-year quarterback have agreed to go their separate ways. Now the swanky Stafford mansion is back on the market, listed for $ 6.5 million.

The 12,000 square foot estate is located at 1867 Long Pointe Drive in Bloomfield Hills, with over 400 feet of frontage along Upper Long Lake. The Staffords, who have four young children, initially listed the house for the same price last summer because they wanted to find a place with less water. Here’s what Kelly said at the time.

“We’re about to have our fourth child and I personally don’t want to live on a lake or have a pool with four kids under a little over 3 years old. This house has been amazing. We will never have a house like this. So that’s a very sad thing, but it just makes us feel better knowing that there is no real danger in having tiny ones around all bodies of water.

Stafford’s real estate agent tells MLive that they took the house off the market because they didn’t want to move during football season.

“We were looking for homes in the area, but now the circumstances have obviously changed, so we put the house back up for sale,” said Jeff Barker, associate broker at Max Broock Realtors. “I’ve been their real estate agent and friend for 11 years and I’m sad to see them go.”

The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home has a larger infinity pool than any other home in Michigan, according to the manufacturer. It comes with a cascading waterfall on the side.

Another feature you won’t find anywhere else than this house, which was built in 1980, is the indoor half-basketball court. But this is not just any court. The ground is the original ground the Detroit Pistons played on when they were at the Pontiac Silverdome. This yard was already inside the house when the Staffords bought it.

The kitchen has two islands with counter seating. Then there is the dining room with a glass floor in it which overlooks the wine cellar of over 600 temperature controlled bottles below. And when you are in the wine cellar, you can see above in the dining room.

“This house is in perfect condition. It is an artist’s dream. It has everything everyone could want in today’s world. It is probably one of the nicest homes in the country, not just Michigan. It really is a spectacular residence, ”added Baker.

The Staffords renovated the house in 2016 and added over 2,000 square feet to it. The interior now features polished granite floors throughout, as well as new cabinetry. There are five fireplaces, a glass elevator that serves all three floors, and a giant man cave, which you can see in the photo gallery above along with the pool table.

The master suite on the first floor now has a marble bathroom. There is also an in-room entertainment area with a wall-mounted TV and a coffee bar. Two of the other four bedrooms have balconies that the Staffords added in the remodel.

In the lower walkout level there is a sauna and steam room as well as a room with two tubs side by side. To get to the house you have to go through an iron gate. There is a three car garage with mirrored doors to reflect the scenery. There is a brick paver driveway, a limestone exterior, a granite porch, and a two story fire pit.
