Insomniac Games sent a message to fans after Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the developer's purchase.
"We announced today that Insomniac had a new home," said Insomniac General Manager Ted Price. "It's more like coming home." We've been working with Sony for more than 20 years, working on four PlayStation consoles, 20 games in total and six franchises, and we're still working closely with many Sony teammates. when we released the first Spyro the Dragon in 1998. "
The Spyro, Ratchet, Clank and Resistance franchises are all exclusive to PlayStation consoles, including Marvel's Spider-Man from last year. Sunset Overdrive, an exclusive Xbox One 2014, is the only exception.
"The decision to associate with Sony goes well beyond familiarity," the message continues. "Our studio vision is to create experiences that have a positive and lasting impact on people's lives." Looking forward, we know that joining the WWS family gives us the best opportunities to fully realize this vision. On a larger scale, we believe that Sony shares the same vision of positive impact on the lives of players, their employees and the gaming industry in general.
"Today, we are embarking on a new chapter in the growth and evolution of our studio, and we are delighted to place Insomniac in the best position to offer new experiences to our fans for many years to come. Our structure and approach will remain intact at Burbank and Durham, North Carolina, and we will continue to cultivate our unique culture.
"It's a crazy race for sure, now we're ready for the next leg of our journey and we look forward to exploring new worlds with our Sony family and loyal fans."
Sony recently explained why he had decided to buy Insomniac. Sony Games President Shawn Layden said, "We felt it was time to formalize the relationship."
