Instagram has worn and tested new features in recent months. Facebook has purchased the $ 1 billion photo-sharing platform and wants it to become the leading photo-centric platform as its audience grows. To do this, he copied the features of the most popular photo sharing platforms such as Snapchat and Pinterest.
The feature that allowed you to save publications was launched in late 2016, as before, and allowed users to save publications for later. The Save button was visible on the left when viewing a photo or a video. All the photos you have saved have been placed in a Saved tab and are not visible to other users. Users were also not informed if you also backed up their posts.
Later in early 2017, Instagram introduced its new collections feature to put your saved messages in order. The collections could then be categorized with tags – a useful feature for organized post-storage.
You only need to press and hold the Save favorites button, then the More icon to select the collection in which you want the saved publication to appear. This is similar to Pin's pinned collections.
Earlier this month, Instagram was tested by testing other features such as sending DM from the desktop, questionnaires stickers for stories, sharing publications on multiple publications and group collections. . This feature will allow users to add more people to save publications during collaborative backed collections.
Instagram does not stop there because later in the week, a new feature was revealed at the bottom of Instagram's Android app that allows users to create public collections that will allow multiple users to collaborate. Collections have been private since their introduction, but when Group Collections began testing, it was inevitable to make them public.
The previous features that Instagram had absorbed into Pinterest were minor features, but the Public Collections feature poses a direct threat to Pinterest's core features, especially as they file for a $ 12 billion IPO. dollars.
As the story shows, it is disturbing. To do this, Instagram launched Stories six months before the release of Snap. This ultimately reduced the growth of the ephemeral photo platform by 88%. Pinterest is a quarter of the size of Instagram, which has 500 million daily users and more than a billion monthly users. If this feature is published, it could cripple Pinterest's growth.
Jane Machun Wong, a specialist in reverse engineering, was able to detect this feature. In screen capture, this shows that Instagram will allow you to toggle the public visibility of a collection.
Another thing to note is that you can credit the accounts of people for whom you have posted. Internet users could use this feature to become curators of things they like instead of taking screenshots of other peoples and republishing them without their consent.
This new feature could prove useful at a time when Instagram is stepping up its e-commerce efforts and where brands could use this feature to share their collections of items to buy. As usual, Instagram has denied this, but if it ever came online, Pinterest would be worrying.
Another feature tested by Instagram is the IGTV image in the image so you can continue watching a video when you use other apps after leaving Instagram.
