Instagram is down on the web

Instagram is down, with a breakdown that affected the social media platform on Thursday afternoon.

Checking it on the mobile Instagram app displays a message "Unable to refresh the feed", while any attempt to use the desktop website displays a Facebook logo and message "Sorry, something went wrong".

Instagram did not immediately respond to a request for comment on how long it was down, when it would be backed up, what was the cause of the outage and if it was overall.

Down Detector recorded more than 38,000 reports at 15:00. PT, which jumped to nearly 57,000 reports at 3:40 pm Its live outage map shows that the problem has been reported around the world in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Instagram finally acknowledged the crash via Twitter at 15:41. PT, saying that he is working to solve the problem.

Instagram users have also flooded Twitter, the hashtag #instagramdown has already been read by hundreds of people.

Others complain about not knowing what to do with their time now.

Many people were using Twitter to check if it was their Wi-Fi or Instagram problem.

Dissatisfied users have also complained of repetitive faults on Instagram.
