Since Facebook acquired Instagram in 2012, the company has made a handful of changes to clarify its ownership. Now, according to a new report from Committed, Facebook is testing the implementation of a new banner at the top of the Instagram application which invites users to consult… Facebook.

According to the report, the post will encourage Instagram users to check out the Facebook app for features that are only “available” on Facebook. Facebook confirmed the test in a statement, saying the focus is on educating Instagram users about features like shopping, dating, and more:

“We are testing a way to let people who have connected their Instagram account to Facebook know about features that are only available there, such as finding a job, setting up online dates, buying and selling. goods or updating the latest news, ”a spokesperson said in a statement.

The test begins with a “very small group” of Instagram users who had previously chosen to link their Facebook and Instagram accounts to each other. It’s not clear whether the company plans to extend the notification, but that decision will likely be based on the results and response to that test.

This is just the latest example of Facebook deepening its connection to Instagram. Facebook has made it clear that it intends to merge WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger chats, while allowing users to easily link their accounts and cross stories.
