Integrating Waze with the CarPlay Dashboard in Beta Tests

[ad_1]

Waze will soon integrate into Apple CarPlay’s multi-screen dashboard, according to beta testers MacRumors forums.

Although it has yet to be officially announced, the feature appears to be in beta testing already, and according to The edge, also comes for the first time with lane guidance in the app. Waze, which is owned by Google, declined to comment The edge on the integration of the application with the “CarPlay” dashboard.

Previously, “CarPlay” required users to completely switch between screens to see audio controls and other information while being directed to a destination. With the “CarPlay” dashboard, users can see a map, guidance information and other contextual information such as current audio playing or calendar simultaneously in a split screen view. The feature arrived with iOS 13, but originally only worked with Apple Maps. With iOS 13.4, Apple introduced the option for third-party apps to add dashboard mode support in their own map apps.

The developers seem to have been slow to integrate this feature, however, with Google Maps only receiving support recently, in August.
