Intel (INTC -1.9%) confirms to Tom's Hardware that it will stop developing compute cards, small peripherals containing important computer components (processor, storage, RAM, etc.) intended to facilitate the installation of update hardware in products similar to docking stations.

The computation cards have been marketed on a generation of 7th generation Intel processors.

Intel, to Tom's Hardware: "We continue to think that modular computing is a market with many opportunities for innovation, but as we look for the best way to exploit it, we have decided to not develop new technologies. " We will continue to sell and support the current Compute Card products until 2019 so that our customers receive the support they need with their current solutions and we are grateful for their partnership regarding this change.
