Intel Examines Quarterly Profit Hack Reports

[ad_1]

(Reuters) – Intel Corp said Thursday it was investigating reports that a chart in its quarterly income statement had been the subject of unauthorized access before it was released.

“Once we became aware of these reports, we made the decision to release our earnings announcement shortly before the originally scheduled release time,” the US chip company said in a statement.

Earlier on Thursday, the Financial Times quoted Intel’s CFO as saying that financially sensitive information was stolen by a hacker from its corporate website.

According to the report, CFO George Davis said the leak was the result of an illegal action that had not involved any unintentional disclosure by the company itself. (on.ft.com/2XZ1KOB)
