Intel Ice Lake 10nm processor benchmark leak, huge IPC gain over AMD

The reason is that each chip has Precision Boost Overdrive which offers an additional boost range of 100 to 200 MHz on the standard boost frequency. Thus, each chip will operate at a higher boost rate on as many cores as possible and, since this CPU-z specific performance test uses a single core, the frequency only pertains to one core. The 6 core part of Sunny Cove has a lower frequency of 3.6 GHz and scores 630 points, which is still as good as a Kaby Lake-S at 5.2 GHz and the Ryzen 7 at 3800X at 4, 7 GHz. If (and a big si) these results are true, then after several years without major gain in CIP, Intel could finally win a great gain in architecture in the form of Sunny Cove on the 10th generation processors.

Intel has certainly not mentioned a 6-core and 12-threaded game, but if this leak is true, we may be able to see that chip in action next year as the current year does not features only quad-core pieces in the 10th generation family of Ice Lake. The chip is based on the 14 nm ++ Coffee Lake design and not on the more advanced Sunny Cove 10 nm architecture.

The chip was spotted at 5.2 GHz and scored 640 points, or 5 points under the Core i7-9700K. Given that the 9700K and the listed part of Comet Lake-S would be very similar in architecture and that the last gain would be obtained by frequency increases, the score seems highly possible.
