The chip, developed at its development site in Haifa, Israel, is called Nervana NNP-I or Springhill and is based on a 10-nanometer Ice Lake processor that will enable it to cope with high workloads while consuming a minimum of of energy, said Intel.

Intel said its first artificial intelligence product would come after investing in Israeli startups, including Habana Labs and NeuroBlade.
