New Year’s Day 2021 has its pros and cons for fans of Office.
On the one hand, NBC’s beloved sitcom has finally made the dreaded transition from Netflix to Peacock – leaving many Dunder Mifflin-motivated subscribers scrambling to access the new streaming service. (Yes, you can watch seasons 1 and 2 of Office on Peacock for free, but Seasons 3-9 will set you back $ 4.99 per month with ads or $ 9.99 per month without ads.)
On the other hand, Peacock is welcoming Office and its fan base with tons of extra content – including a never-before-seen cold opening filmed for the series finale.
In the nearly five-minute clip (available below), Jim and Pam go to great lengths to convince Dwight that he is living in a real-world extension of the Matrix trilogy. There are scary guys in suits, cryptic computer messages, a really well-trained cat, and the late Hugh Dane as Hank the security guard making his best impression of Laurence Fishburne. Check it out:
For more unseen footage, Peacock subscribers can watch The Office: Superfan Episodes – expanded Office cuts that will be posted on Peacock over the next few months. (For now, only Season 3 is complete, but no longer Superfan episodes are expected in March.)
In addition, Peacock has Office bloopers, featurettes, cast and crew interviews, episodes collections organized by theme, playlists of the best clips in the series, an ambient noise channel to make your home work feel more like an office , and this office style early site full of Easter eggs. Oh, and yes, Meredith and Oscar blew some jello to celebrate 2021. Of course, the ease of having Office on Netflix, but all that extra content? It doesn’t suck.
Office is now streaming on Peacock.
