iOS 12.2: The latest OS corrects a set of critical security patches

Perhaps the most notable solution: Apple has fixed a flaw that could allow malicious applications to access the microphone of your iPhone and register you and your loved ones.

But that's only one of the vulnerabilities Apple (AAPL) treated in iOS 12.2.

The company also corrected a problem with the FaceTime application that prevented video chats from shutting down when you left the application.

Another solution allowed users to access sensitive information in the Messages application and on websites visited via Safari to display information from the light and motion sensors on their phone.

These are just some of the most shocking security holes. Others have dealt with phone memory and SMS hacking. Some of the fixes affect devices other than iPhones, such as laptops and iPads.

It's not unusual for Apple to address security issues related to software updates, said Nick Merrill, cybersecurity consultant, CNN.

The old operating system of the iPhone, iOS 12.1.4, was released in February after finding a bug in FaceTime that allowed access to the camera and to the microphones of iPhones without the authorization of the user.

The patches preceded Apple's strong push for content and entertainment. On Monday, at the press conference, privacy was a buzzword for many of his new services.

The company said it would "preserve the privacy of users" when it would offer content to users of its subscription service to News + magazine and announced on stage that it would only collect no data from its Apple Arcade streaming game service. The company also promised that Goldman Sachs, which has partnered with Apple on a credit card, would not share the Apple cardholder's data for marketing purposes.

The Apple stock closed down 1% after the announcement. Weak details on the credit card interest rate and the TV + price have left investors unconvinced of being able to offset the slowdown in iPhone sales.
