There is several intriguing information from the latest video posted by YouTuber EverythingApplePro and leaker Max Weinbach. The juiciest leak, however, is the always-on display.
Always-on display of iPhone 13
The screen will look like a simplified lock screen and still show the clock and battery level, comparable to the Apple Watch 6, and offer a few minor customization options.
To save battery, notifications will only activate the part of the screen where the alert appears, and only briefly before turning off again.
Weinbach also said that the iPhone 13 Pro models could come with a 120Hz LTPO display, much like the Samsung Galaxy S21. But it’s a rumor we’ve heard from several reliable sources before.
IPhone 13 Camera Upgrades
We can also expect some camera improvements. The main hardware change is a better ultra-wide camera on all models. That’s thanks to a new sensor, plus a six-piece lens (down from five) that will help make photos less prone to distortion.
In the camera app itself, Apple will introduce a dedicated astrophotography mode. Similar to how night mode is activated when you’re in a low-light environment, you activate this mode when you point the phone at the stars or the moon, with the settings helping you record the night sky in more detail.
The latest new feature revealed by EverythingApplePro is a portrait video mode. This will provide a blurry background on video footage when enabled, but you can customize the depth of field after shooting so that you can get it exactly. There aren’t any details on whether this can be used on one of the iPhone 13’s cameras or only a few.
IPhone 13 Design Tweaks
Given that this year’s iPhone is widely seen as a minor upgrade to the iPhone 12, it follows that the flat-sided design will return. However, there are a few differences in store, according to EverythingApplePro.
Some models will be getting a new matte back with a “slightly more grippy texture”, comparable to that on the back of the Google Pixel 5. This probably refers to the Pro models, since the iPhone 12 Pro has a matte back while the iPhone 12 Pro has a matte back. The basic iPhone 12 has a glossy finish, although Apple might decide to change that.
Beneath the surface of the next iPhone, Apple will replace current MagSafe magnets with stronger ones, making it easier to attach a charger or MagSafe accessory. Weinbach says these new magnets won’t affect the thickness of the phone, although EverythingApplePro has mentioned that Japanese outlet MacOtakara has said there will be a slight increase in thickness to account for the new magnets.
The video also mentions other Apple accessories. AirTags trackers are finally arriving in March or April, with the associated software already deployed. Meanwhile, the Apple Watch 7’s mental health tracking features are now set to release in 2022 at the earliest.
