IPhone 13 Pro 5G renderings reveal something many iPhone users have prayed for

It’s as if Apple just launched the 2020 iPhone 12 series and thoughts have already turned to the 2021 models. The first word about this year’s handsets is that they will look like last year’s phones and keep the same screen sizes. This means that we should see a 5.4 inch iPhone 13 mini, 6.1 inch iPhone 13, 6.1 inch iPhone 13 Pro, and 6.7 inch iPhone 13 Pro Max. Apple is reportedly halting production of the iPhone 12 mini due to lower than expected demand. In the first half of January, the mini only accounted for 5% of the sales of the iPhone 12 series. On the other hand, the production of the iPhone 12 Pro Max would increase by 11 million units.

While they may look the same compared to the 2020 line, there will be a few differences. For example, Pro models could be equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate that updates the screen 120 times per second, resulting in smooth scrolling and improved animation. This ProMotion screen is already available on the iPad Pro. When using a low temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) backplane, the refresh rate may vary depending on the screen content. Video games, for example, would justify using 120Hz, while more static content would run at a slower refresh rate to save battery power. Using LTPO could also allow Apple to offer an always-on display.

Apple should improve camera lineup on some models and might even bring astrophotography to these phones; this will allow iPhone 13 users to take photos of the night sky. Another new feature for iPhone photographers could be Portrait mode video allowing users to change the depth field during post processing. Ultra-wide cameras across the line will be upgraded, according to the latest rumors, from a 5-element lens to a 6-element lens.

The 5nm A15 Bionic chipset will power the line and we might see stronger magnets inside the devices for MagSafe accessories. This could be part of MagSafe’s emphasis on wireless charging, as at least one of the newer models (likely the iPhone 13 Pro Max) will be completely portless. The iPhone 13 series will come out of the box with iOS 15 preinstalled.

LetsGoDigital recently released renders of an iPhone 13 Pro and the screen shows a built-in version of Touch ID paired with Face ID. Speaking of the latter, the notch is also smaller in width. Many iPhone users have asked Apple to bring back Touch ID and it looks like their wish is granted. At the same time, Face ID fans will also remain happy.
