Apple has been said to be working on a portless iPhone for some time, and it increasingly looks like the iPhone 13 could be that phone – or at least one of the iPhone 13 models could be.
That’s because Jon Prosser (a leaker with an admittedly mixed record) said on his Front Page Tech YouTube show that Apple plans to make one of the iPhone 13 models portless.
This is not a new claim from Prosser, he tweeted exactly the same in May, but reiterating the claim here, he said his sources said it was still Apple’s plan.
The biggest phone might have the fewest ports
It doesn’t say which iPhone 13 model will be the luckiest without a port, but assuming the selection reflects the iPhone 12 lineup, we’ll assume it will be the iPhone 13 Pro Max, as that would be the most expensive of them. them. Otherwise, Apple could make the iPhone 13 mini portless, as removing the ports could allow Apple to make the phone even smaller.
This is only speculation at this time, and we’ll say any iPhone 13 model will be portless with a pinch of salt.
However, Prosser isn’t the only person to make this claim. Ming-Chi Kuo (an analyst with a good track record in Apple news) said much the same in December 2019, while at least one other source also suggested one or more iPhone models. 13 would be portless. So we would say that an iPhone 13 without a port seems likely.
Being without a port means you’ll be relying on wireless charging, which will likely be an annoyance for some people. But it’s something Apple is already making as painless as possible thanks to MagSafe, which uses magnets to keep wireless chargers in line with the iPhone 12 line. And just like removing the headphone port, it’s one thing. which people are likely to adapt to quickly.
Still, with the iPhone 13 not set to land until September 2021, it’s rumored very early on, so we can’t be sure of anything just yet. TechRadar will be sure to cover all the credible rumors in the weeks and months to come, so stay tuned for any updates.
