Consumers believe that Aldi offers the lowest prices on the market in a weekly grocery store than any other Irish retailer, according to the latest Core Research study.
The report indicated that more than four in ten (43%) said that they believed Aldi had the lowest prices, compared to 36% for Lidl and 13% for Tesco.
With the emerging price as a key battleground for consumers in recent months, 53% of customers say that they would change if "The grocery market is very competitive and captures such a large amount of expenses weekly housekeepers that it deserves to be examined closely, "said Conor Hughes, customer manager, Core Research.
"We found that consumers were extremely price-conscious – more than half of them stating that they were willing to change if they knew that prices would be lower elsewhere on the goods that they want.
Consumers like to offer the lowest prices on fresh fruits and vegetables in particular, with 35% naming it the best supermarket to buy fresh meat.
